If you've searched "sex therapist near me," you're probably looking for support with intimacy, confidence, or connection, and you deserve to know exactly what kind of professional you're about to work with. Here's the honest difference.
Sex therapists are licensed mental health clinicians, often licensed therapists, psychologists, or counselors with additional certification such as through AASECT, who can diagnose and treat mental health conditions, work with trauma, and take insurance in many cases. If you're dealing with a diagnosable condition, significant trauma, or a mental health crisis, a licensed sex therapist is the right place to start, and I'm glad to help point you toward one.
Sex and relationship coaches work differently. Coaching is forward-focused, practical, and experiential, built around communication, body awareness, confidence, and connection rather than diagnosis or clinical treatment. I'm Inbar Reiter, a certified Life Coach, Time Line Therapy Practitioner, NLP Master, and Somatica Coach Practitioner based in Hallandale Beach, FL. My work combines somatic, body-based practices such as breathwork, mindfulness, and guided awareness with practical relationship tools, for individuals and couples who want to move past shame, anxiety, or disconnection and build the intimacy and confidence they're looking for.
How to choose:
If you're managing a diagnosed mental health condition, past trauma that needs clinical support, or a crisis situation — start with a licensed therapist.
If you're generally stable and looking for practical, embodied support to build confidence, communication, and connection — coaching is often the faster, more action-oriented path, and many clients do both at different points.
Not sure which fits your situation? Book a short fit call and we'll figure out together whether coaching is the right next step for you — and if it's not, I'll help you find someone who's a better fit.
